Starflight 2 free download

Old Timer 0 point DOS version. I pulled several all-nighters playing this game and the sequel. I had about hours in it when I found Earth and was exploring around the North Pole. I found a message inside that civilization almost came to a complete collapse at the end of the 20th century, as people would spend their lives living out fantasies in front of glowing phosphorescent screens.

I about fell out of my chair laughing. LearningWithLeaper 9 points. My father rip used to play this game all the time when I was a kid on our tandy. I remember the map being tacked to the wall in the office and sitting with him as he played. Finally when I got older I dug out his original game box and downloaded dosbox and a version of this game to play on my computer.

I told him about it and got him into it again, it was one thing me and my father could talk about that we were both doing. This game brings so many fond memories, and I'm happy to have found it again. Johnny -6 points DOS version. Jadzu 1 point DOS version. I spent untold hours just trying to make a living as a beat up space miner, pirate and explorer. Love this game and now my children are hooked and ask that I play every evening after work. Kurt 1 point DOS version.

This game modifies itself as you play. So if you screw something up, delete it and re-download it. No joke. Never play with your original copy. Maetel la Metalle 1 point DOS version.

The description barely scratches the surface of how incredible 'Starflight' wasand still is today: nothing else has ever come close.

I have an original manual and decoder wheel for Star Flight. You can email me at gwapoguy comcast. Bobo -3 points DOS version. BasilFawlty -1 point DOS version. I can get it to run, but it says there is a load game in progress and but not saved and then it boots me Aanaxis 0 point DOS version. Jester 3 points DOS version. Vryus 0 point DOS version. We played this game to death. We plotted routes on the starmap, calculated fuel and explored the wildlife on planets. We even had several incredibly intense hours moving through nebulas and watching the motion detection warnings as we tried to outrun the Uhlek.

Amazing game. I still play it every so often today. The 'hint book' that was published is a great read, especially the end. Phil 0 point DOS version. GnomeLeveler 0 point DOS version. What's shyneum? It seems that Arth's former source of energy, endurium, has been banned, since it causes those pesky supernovas. Shyneum is the new and improved energy source, but it's a lot tougher to find, so you'd better get cracking.

Of course, you are still on the lookout for new planets to colonize, but that's a bit tougher, too. It seems that while the galaxy was worrying so much about solar destruction and the like, a few more species moved into the neighborhood, so there won't be nearly as many uninhabited planets for the Federation to snap up.

Starflight 2 continues in much the same vein as its predecessor, with a few refinements. There are some new aliens to encounter, and now you can view them in VGA graphics. There aren't as many planets to visit, but there's a lot more to see on the ones that do exist.

Trade has become more complicated — you can no longer just make a quick stop at your home spaceport to dump your goods. This is done by either going to inhabited planets with trade posts, or by meetings in space with those who also wish to trade. This adds a whole new element to the game, as proper trade is crucial to success. This also leads to a lot of running around, for example, if you wanted to get the "Ehshevy System Scanner," they'll want "Godmasks" in return.

If you go to the planet that makes "Godmasks," they'll in turn want something for the "Godmasks," and so on and so forth. This can be fun or boring, depending on your tastes, but I personally found it lots of fun. The story of this game is quite different than the first one. The cowardly Spemin a gelatinous species has acquired some very sophisticated technology, and are using it to seek revenge on all those who have oppressed read: made fun of them in the past. You must find a way to defeat the Spemin through using their game, while saving the universe from a new threat at the same time.

The story is presented through the use of logs, conversations, exploration, and trade, and can take a VERY long time to complete. This is definitely not a game for the impatient. Controlling the game is also quite easy, as only the cursor keys, space bar, and enter key are needed to do just about everything. Overall, I have to admit this is my favorite game series of all time, so I may be a bit biased.

The game has so much charm, playability, and depth that one can't help but gush about it. If you like science fiction, role playing, adventures, or humor, you're going to love this game. It's got fun in spades, and even if it looks dated, it's fun through and through.

Following the events of the first Starflight, the galaxy is at relative peace.
